Regular local and familiar faces Cooper Gale, Chloe Byrnes and Fred Eather (all in the NSW rep team) travelled across the ditch to Auckland to compete in the 2023 New Zealand Youth National Boulder titles on the weekend.
In our sport at this level, the ANZAC relationship is alive and well as we can formally compete in their national championships and they in ours.
Youth are in two year brackets and Chloe was the youngest in the field in youth C. It was all about growth and learning and whilst she did finish at the back of the pack she managed two zones in the qualifiers and learnt plenty in a tough comp and managed herself magnificently.
Cooper and Fred both got through the qualifying rounds and made finals in the youth B category.
Cooper had a cracking two days with growth coming in many ways and managed key moments really well finishing in 6th. Fred also managed a number of key moments well and finished 2nd (by one attempt to zone). Well done team.
