This coming weekend is the pinnacle event in the domestic calendar - the Nationals Opens Bouldering Championships. Local regular face Archie Eather has been given a wild card entry in the star-studded Opens NSW team.
At 16 yrs of age, he'll be the youngest in the field. The best of the best boulders in Australia will be there and the form card looks solid as this is the selection event for the Australian Team 2024 and a part of the selection process for the Oceanic Championships (Olympic selections).
Whilst Archie's credentials are well known in our local space and at the domestic youth level, Tamworth has never had an athlete in this opens event which includes the top individual athletes from WA, SA, QLD, VIC, TAS and of course NSW.
There's no expectation in terms of results but he's trained hard leading into this event. Arch has his eyes set on the Youth Nationals next year so this is a tremendous opportunity for experience and growth.
